Beats, Cycles & Song - Open Call for Community Performers

Beats, Cycles & Song is an immersive live performance coming to NOVUM Festival 2026 in Newcastle from 7th to 9th August, co-created with Newcastle communities and bringing together Carnatic (South Indian) percussion, Afro-music and Northeast folk music with co-created movement by community participants led by Amy Becke in Ballet and Contemporary styles and Divya Sharma in Kathak, an Indian classical dance form.

We are looking for community performers aged 18+ from the Global Majority to take part. No professional experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to have a go

Beats, Cycles & Song has been commissioned by Newcastle City Council for NOVUM Summer Festival. Funded and delivered by Newcastle City Council. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
