Payal is a Kuchipudi dancer and choreographer…

her training began at the tender age of four in Delhi with celebrated dancers and Gurus Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. There after she trained with revered Gurus Jayarama Rao & Vanashree Rao. Payal is now under the impeccable guidance of committed Gurus Jaikishore & Padmavani Mosalikanti in Chennai.

Her rigorous training has provided for a strong foundation…

that has helped her evolve as a dancer with her own unique vocabulary. Over years of unstinted effort, her dance has attained both maturity and depth. Payal has been performing regularly as a soloist and has evolved as a artist in her own right.

A sensitive choreographer, Payal’s creative work strikes a fine balance…

between tradition and modernity. Payal is increasingly leveraging her traditional repertoire to handle subjects that inflict today’s world. Innovative yet rooted in the Kuchipudi vocabulary , her choreographies continue to draw both appreciation and applause from audiences.
Payal started Mrija Dance Studio in the United Kingdom, which is her initiative to continue to promote Kuchipudi amongst all nationalities and age groups and bring to the fore the beauty of this dance form through the medium of regular classes, workshops and performances.

Payal has performed extensively across the globe…

at major national and International festivals, conferences and has also raised funds for charity. She has toured several countries with the aim of propagating Kuchipudi. Some of her international performance- tours include Netherlands, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Canada and United Kingdom.

Listed as one of the 40 under 40 South Asian artistes to watch out for in the UK,

Payal promotes Kuchipudi amongst the youth through lecture demonstrations and workshops in both rural and urban areas. She is also closely associated with SPIC MACAY for spreading awareness about the art form across schools and colleges in India. In the UK, she engages communities through regular sessions, workshops and lecture demonstrations.

Payal is an empaneled artist with ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Relations) and a graded artist with Doordarshan. Payal has been awarded the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini award for her contribution to the field of Kuchipudi and has also been given the title of ‘Nrityashree’ by Pracheen Kala Kendra for excellence in dance.
